About the Role
Portal Fantasy is looking for a talented Video Game Designer to join our team in creating an immersive gaming experience. In this role, you will develop puzzles, dialogues, and levels, contributing to an engaging and dynamic game world. Reporting to the Game Design Director, you’ll collaborate closely with our development and art teams to bring innovative ideas to life.
This is an 8-month contract with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time role.

Responsibilities
- Game Content Creation:
- Write and script engaging quests using in-house tools.
- Expand the game’s story and world through creative design.
- Balancing & Tuning:
- Maintain balanced gameplay systems, especially for creature encounters and boss battles.
- Adjust difficulty curves and rewards to enhance accessibility and excitement for players of varying skill levels.
- Collaborative Design:
- Work closely with the game design, art, and development teams to ensure a cohesive vision.
- Demonstrate expertise in level flow, engagement design, pacing, and storytelling.
- Documentation:
- Write detailed design documents outlining levels, concepts, and ideas.
Requirements
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
- Passion for Gaming: A deep understanding and love for games.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in the gaming industry.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to take and apply feedback effectively.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Familiarity with Video Game Map Editors (TILED experience is a strong plus).
- Attention to Detail: High standards for quality and precision.
- Organized: Able to multitask, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
- Able to work within European time zones.
